On a pelagic organised by " Dagje in de Natuur" fellow local-birder Gijsbert Twigt found the eight Bonaparte's Gull for the Netherlands on the 27th of September.
The bird then got relocated tracking the ferries between Den Helder and Texel and has been doing that ever since. I wasn't able to visit the first weekend, dipped it on a Tuesday afternoon, crossing 3x up en down in vain and was finally able to go this weekend of the 11th.
I brought my two sons with me that had been bringing me luck before, finding a Stone Curlew and a Pallid Swift and they didn't let daddy down again.
We got especially lucky on the way back with the bird close to the ferry.
